UAB’s Center for Clinical and Translational Science is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Center for Translational Science Award and is leveraging a current four-year $39.59 million grant to lead partner organizations across the Southeast to accelerate innovative discoveries for better health.

Overview of the INTO center

Ranked a Top 200 Best Global University by U.S. News & World Report, The University of Alabama at Birmingham is home to one of the largest academic medical centers in the US and welcomes students, faculty and staff from more than 100 countries. The Center for World University Rankings lists UAB as No. 146 internationally and No. 70 in the US in the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members and the quality of research.

As INTO’s eighth university partner in the US, UAB aims to bring additional global perspectives to the campus while strengthening its economic impact in the area. The joint venture, INTO UAB, offers university-designed courses and a fully integrated university experience to help international students transition smoothly into US life and succeed in their undergraduate or graduate studies.

After opening its doors in May 2016 for a summer Academic English intake, INTO UAB welcomed its first Pathway students in Fall 2016.

The first-rate facilities include:

INTO UAB provides the best learning environment for students to invest in their education. Highly qualified instructors, facilities with the latest technology, small classes, personalized support, social activities and a welcoming community all contribute to the rich campus experience. Center facilities include:

  • Multi-purpose classrooms

  • Lounge areas for student-teacher meetings, study groups and relaxing
  • Personalized support services, 24 hours a day, including emergency assistance
