INTO Newcastle launches two new International Year One programs in collaboration with Newcastle University Business School

The newly-launched programs provide students with the academic tools and personal support required to progress on to study at Newcastle’s renowned Business School.

(NEWCASTLE): INTO Newcastle has launched two new International Year One (IYO) programs in Accounting & Finance and Finance. 

The preparatory programs will provide international students with the academic support and knowledge needed to progress to the second year in their chosen subject area at Newcastle University Business School. 

Once they have completed the IYO program and met the progression requirements for their chosen course at Newcastle, students are guaranteed entry to the leading Business School. 

INTO’s CEO, John Sykes, said: “The launch of these IYO programs in Accounting and Finance and Finance marks an exciting milestone in our collaboration with Newcastle University Business School, strengthening our shared commitment to providing international students with a clear pathway to prestigious degrees and a wealth of career opportunities.” 

The International Year One in Accounting and Finance and International Year One in Finance are both offered through INTO Newcastle’s dedicated study centre, located at the heart of Newcastle University’s vibrant campus. During their time at the centre, international students receive tailored academic, personal, and wellbeing support, and can immerse themselves in the range of social clubs and opportunities available at Newcastle University. 

Newcastle’s Business School is amongst the World top 200 for Accounting and Finance and ranks 16th in the UK. 

Director of International Office at Newcastle University, Helen Challis, added: “These new International Year One programs provide an excellent route for ambitious international students to kickstart their academic journey in Accounting and Finance and Finance, and join Newcastle University’s globally recognised Business School.” 

Students will undertake the program at the INTO Newcastle Centre, where they will obtain hands-on academic and personal support before they progress to the next stage of study. The program’s flexible structure is designed to allow students to complete their undergraduate degree in just three years, providing a cost-effective route to a degree from a prestigious Russell Group university. 

INTO Newcastle’s Centre Director, Clare McKeague, said: “We are excited to launch these two new International Year One programmes at  INTO Newcastle which offer students the opportunity to pursue a degree at a triple-accredited UK Business School, developing skills for life in a supportive setting.” 

“The Accounting and Finance BSc degree will equip students with real-world, problem-solving skills, learning about the academic theory that underpins professional accounting and finance practice and benefiting from industry-recognised accreditations, research-informed teaching, and practitioner insight. The varied and flexible Finance BSc equips students with a wide range of career-enhancing skills, with exposure to diverse experiences, developing a working knowledge of a broad range of areas in finance including financial markets, banking, corporate finance and financial analysis." 

Dr Kirsty Munro, Director of Undergraduate Studies, Newcastle University Business School, said: "We have been working with our colleagues at INTO Newcastle for some time on the development of two new IYO programmes and we are very excited that they are now being launched to the market.” 

Upon completion, the programs offer a route to degrees in BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance or BSc (Hons) Finance, at Newcastle’s Business School, triple accredited by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. 

The School has strong employer links, working with 300+ businesses each year including PwC, HSBC, Sage, Greggs, WPP and Bloomberg. 

When reflecting on her time studying at the World top 130 university, Dellavinta from Indonesia said: “I am where I am now because of Newcastle University.
