This year, around 300 INTO Newcastle University alumni from all over the world picked up their degree certificates in the newly refurbished King’s Hall. The traditional awarding ceremonies were each led by the Bedel carrying the University mace to the strains of the Northumbrian pipes.
Among those graduating was Kenny who, having passed INTO Newcastle’s International Foundation in Architecture received a First-Class Honours degree in Architecture, having previously won the HB Saint William Bell Memorial Prize for his final project.
“INTO has set a great foundation for my transition to Newcastle University, especially helping me to use English confidently,” he said. “The International Year One program has really challenged and pushed me towards crafting spaces with the purpose for users and which in turn has still been influencing my design thinking today.”
Amber, who graduated with a degree in Marketing and Management will be continuing to do her Masters at the London School of Economics. She said: “I really enjoyed my three years studying in Newcastle. I met a group of nice and friendly tutors and classmates. I received excellent education and help from the University, especially INTO Newcastle.”
Meanwhile, Newcastle University Business School graduate, Daisy has landed a job with Morrisons as a Logistics Graduate, having completed the International Diploma in Business (now called Business International Year One) at INTO Newcastle, before progressing to her Business Management degree.
Daisy, who also completed a one-year placement at Procter & Gamble as a Master Data Analyst before finishing her degree had this to say about the experience: “I received so much help and care from work colleagues and I learned a lot, for example, business communications, presentation skills and data analysis. The placement definitely helped me with my search for a graduate job.”
Kevin Conroy, INTO Newcastle Centre Director, said, "graduation is one of my favourite times of the year. It really is such a special moment for our students and of course for their families, friends and teachers. Congratulations to them all! Everyone gets dressed up, cameras are everywhere and you can really hear the joy in the air. It's a wonderful occasion and the memories live forever!"
