Nearly 10,000 degrees were awarded to George Mason University students during Spring 2019 commencement ceremonies. Graduates represented more than 80 countries, making it the largest and most diverse graduating class in Mason’s history.
Among those graduates were 110 former students who began their academic journeys at INTO Mason.
Despite coming from a mixture of countries including China, India, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Russia, Pakistan, Thailand and studying a range of subjects – from Management to Sports and Recreation Studies – the former INTO Mason students shared an appreciation of their first international study experiences at the center.
“My favorite memory was my first year at INTO Mason where I met a lot of friends from all around the world,” said Hoa, who is from Vietnam, and received a BA in Communication.
“My professors at INTO Mason helped me learn English and prepared me for study at Mason. I am so thankful and excited to graduate,” added Hussam, who comes from Saudi Arabia and gained an MA in Transportation Policy, Operations, and Logistics.
“Determination and perseverance will help you reach your goal,” said commencement speaker, United Nations deputy-secretary, Amina J. Mohammed – powerful words which resonated with the excited crowd of graduates and their families and friends who had gathered to celebrate such monumental achievements.
