INTO London students recently showcased their presentation skills by hosting a poster presentation exhibition in the centre.
Students from the Accounting and Finance; Business, Management and Law; Hospitality, Events and Tourism; and Social Sciences and Media International Foundation programmes were recently asked to create a poster about their Critical Thinking and Communication Skills research assignment for the event.
During the exhibition the students had to showcase and discuss their topic with the audience, after which their tutors gave them a final mark. The event was a huge success, as it encouraged students to come out of their comfort zones and discuss their work with a diverse audience.
Pam Kaur Gibbons, Critical Thinking and Communication Skills Module Coordinator, said: “Getting the students to carry out investigative research is highly valuable to develop their critical thinking and communication skills.
“Preparing for a poster presentation exhibition gave the students a different type of presenting experience, as the audience became part of the interaction. It enabled our Foundation students to showcase their research skills to a wider audience. This was a celebration of the students’ and the teacher’s hard work.”
Deputy INTO London Centre Director Amy Pu also praised the event, saying, “The event was well-attended and the students were so enthusiastic to showcase their posters and the research and work they’ve put in, which was very impressive! I'm sure that this experience has helped them build their confidence and learn from one another.”
